College life is the best experience that a person gets in his/her 20’s, but, what ups the show is “THE HOSTEL LIFE” and the common horror stories that every college has. Yes, they are all TRUE according to your seniors and it has apparently happened to them, yet they are all so similar, aren’t they? In spite of knowing the stories or even having heard of them before, we still enjoy listening to them. The college friend feeling all those things and being so brave is achievement for us, after all “dost kiska hai?” When we remember them and feed it to our juniors we tend to add a little masala of our own and thus making the most popular common horror stories of every hostel

1. The hostel is made on a graveyard.

Yes, that is the problem. The college is made on a graveyard and that is the reason you are going to be haunted for the rest of your life in this hostel. You killed those people. YOU did. Now is the payback time.

2. The lady in the “white saree” on the terrace.

You have not heard a horror story if there hasn’t been a lady in a white saree. Isn’t it wonderful how the associations of this lady wearing a white saree (let’s assume she just has this one color saree) scares the shit out of us. I mean like seriously and trust me she is in a bad mood if she is walking with a lit candle in her hand.

3. The “chamcham” noise when someone goes to fill water at midnight.

At least you know your ghost is a female and she has a thing for dance. And she only dances when you have to pee or when you are thirsty at night because, c’mon, girls want attention buddy! Understand.

4. Ghost of the student who committed suicide.

Even if the suicide hasn’t happened, the ghost still seems to turn up quite often. We all hate our college every once a while but this student hated it so much that he died here and now stays at this “hated place”

even after death.

5. Lady screaming in the middle of the night.

Seriously woman!! Stop screaming, will you? She screams every night and every night someone different hears it and instead of going and helping they all run to save themselves.

6. A “human figure “near your bed.

Stalking is a big issue. And when FACEBOOK fails, this Mister or Miss cannot help themselves and just runs to your bed when you are fast asleep in the middle of the night because they love you so much that they want you to die of heart attack. Yes, this time you should actually be scared. This one might be the crazy obsessive type.

7. The head of a human outside your window who is looking at you.

Are they ghosts or are these the wannabe people that your social knowledge warned you about? And what about those eyes? They all have those red big eyes that are so scary. I think this dude has a thing for these hostels and the windows and the best part is, he has visited almost every hostel in the city or in the whole country!

8. The ghost that follows you.

This ghost wants everyone to know about its existence but doesn’t want to show his face. How confused are you in life? I guess it’s the side effects of being in a place full of people who are stuck between “aaj bohot padhai/kaam hai” and “aaj kaam/padhai karne ka mann nahi”.

9. The unknown knock on your door and when you look, woosh, nobody.

This ghost is a disgrace to the ghost world so you needn’t worry about this one. What kind of a ghost knocks? You have the ability to walk through walls and doors and you choose to knock? And not only does this one doesn’t walk through walls but also doesn’t wait for your horrified reaction!

10. Waking up in the middle of the night and it is 3:07 a.m.

This 3ish a.m. time has ruined our lives. You cannot pee, you cannot open your eyes, and you can’t do a thing! And I guess that is the real horror story in all our lives, when you want to do something but don’t know if you should because you are so scared.
